NEW BUILD FOR THE RESIDENTIAL AND CHANCELLERY BUILDING, CAIRO (EGYPT), 2013-2014

ART DE LUX courageously throws itself into the adventure of open competition, after weeks of intensive wrestling over every square centimeter, developing creative ideas and the most intensive research into local building culture, standing for building design which unites traditional materials, quotes from architectural history and a water theme.

The idea incorporates the surroundings of the building - directly on an island in the Nile, on a park, with building parts grouped ang graduated by height. Water from a channel washes through the spaces between the houses, enhancing the impression of an island in the Nile. Glass walkways lead into the embassy building; deep, shaded windows in the massive walls provide some privacy from the outside world, while allowing sufficient views of the surroundings and the well-kept embassy garden.
